Find The Weak Descriptions In Your Sentences and Improve Your Writing: #BBChat Recap

By BookBaby author Lucy Briggs

Jocelyn Pruemer joined the BookBaby Twitter Chat to talk about finding and fixing the weaknesses in your language and sentence structure to improve your writing.

For the October edition of our #BBchat Twitter chat, we asked the owner and creative mind behind AutoCrit, Jocelyn Pruemer, for her thoughts on what the best ways to find the weaknesses in your writing are and how to fix them. We prefaced this month’s chat with some initial pointers to get the conversation started, as well as a brief biography of Jocelyn, which you can check out here.

With NaNoWriMo fast approaching, Jocelyn shared some of her top tips for improving the polish and readability of your book. By removing patterns, replacing generic words, and swapping out adverbs and filler words, you can quickly elevate a correct sentence to a compelling sentence. While the point of NaNoWriMo is of course to reach the 50,000 word goal, Jocelyn’s simple self-editing suggestions will make the full revision process much easier come December.

If you’ve ever sat in on a #BBchat, or have ideas for an upcoming chat, please take a moment to take a short survey.
